Backyard Birding
This little cutie made my day today.
I’m incredibly pleased that a Townsend’s Warbler visits our backyard. I’ve only seen it a handful of times, it darts in, I run and grab my camera and the next instant it’s gone. I managed one picture the first day I saw it during the Great Backyard Bird Count, but since then it remained elusive….until today! On this windy day, it perched on a branch long enough for me to get a better look.
The Townsend’s Warbler is a Wood Warbler, in the family Parulidae. “Warbler” means “singing with trills, runs and quavers,” however Townsend’s Warbler songs are less “warble” more a distinctive rising Zee-zee-zee-zee-dee-du-dee.
So cute!
Tweets, chirps, and zee-zee-dees,
Audrey
